Sebelumnya, saya jelaskan terlebih dulu mengenai beberapa karakter utama blog.

• Rajin diupdate. Blog apapun harus rajin di-update. Pengunjung dan search engine lebih senang terhadap blog yang rajin di-update.
• Interaktivitas. Komunikasi lewat blog berlangsung secara interaktif antara anda dan pengunjung blog anda. Adanya kotak komentar, feed reader, RSS, dan banyak fasilitas lain memudahkan lancarnya jalinan interaktivitas ini.

Nah, untuk itu anda perlu pahami terlebih dulu kedua karakter utama tadi. Memahami kedua karakter tadi dan mengupayakan segenap elemen blog anda bisa memenuhinya bisa meningkatkan kemajuan blog anda.

Kemudian dalam SEO, salah satu hal yang perlu diperhatikan adalah penempatan keyword (kata kunci). Dalam postingan, pastikan keyword ada di judul. Selain di judul, tempatkan pula keyword di beberapa bagian paragraf awal. Contohnya  silakan baca kembali bagian awal blog ini. Coba tebak keyword apa yang saya pakai untuk posting ini dan berapa kali muncul?

Namun begitu, meski anda memasukkan sejumlah keyword, pastikan tulisan anda tak menjadi janggal, tapi tetap enak dinikmati. Jangan karena terlalu SEO-minded, maka mengorbankan kenyamanan pengunjung membaca konten blog anda. Kalau sampai pengunjung yang membaca tulisan anda merasa aneh dengan susunan kalimatnya dan menjadi tak nyaman menikmatinya, harapan anda untuk meningkatkan traffic justru bisa berbuah sebaliknya.

Yang penting, utamakan pengunjung terlebih dulu. Setiap menulis content tujukan selalu buat pengunjung anda dan bukan untuk robot search engine. Sebab kalau pengunjung anda suka dengan tulisan anda, mereka akan langsung berkunjung tanpa lewat search engine. Sangat mungkin pula mereka akan menautkan link ke blog anda.
